INSIDE LUDLOW CASTLE

FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD
Not just beer, bread and bangers, you will find plenty of stalls featuring top quality food and drink from small producers up and down the Marches, the Welsh border country. Products that have been produced on a small scale by people who really care that their food and drink should taste good, and be produced with care for the environment. You won't find big brands or supermarkets here! More about the 'Festival Pub' and List of Exhibitors.

BEER FESTIVAL - organised by SIBA (The Society of Indepedent Brewers Association) takes place inside the 'Festival Pub'.  180+ different real ales on draught (bottles too) from independent breweries from Wales and the border counties. Each brewer's entry will be part of the SIBA Wales & West Competition. More about the 'Festival Pub' List of Exhibitors here.

TALKS AND DEMONSTRATIONS will take place in the Inner Bailey. Full programme here

CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES will take place in the Inner Bailey and will include making Welsh Cakes BUT must be booked in advance here.

MUSIC will be a feature in the 'Festival Pub' and this year we have an AMAZING and varied lineup so find out more about the music here.

FESTIVAL PUB & GREAT MUSIC

When you arrive in the Outer Bailey, head for the large Festival Pub marquee where you can get your bearings, pick up your beer tokens, grab a pint or glass of wine and prepare yourself for a relaxing, fun-filled day. The Festival Pub is also the venue for live music and a focal point for the show. Cheers.

OVER THE WEEKEND - MARCHES TRANSPORT FESTIVAL

The Outer Bailey is also the place to see an impressive display of classic and vintage vehicles, some dating back to the early years of the last century. Gleaming bodywork, exceptional engines and enthusiastic owners will be the order of the day. Take your time to browse fine examples of motoring heritage and learn how vehicles have been lovingly restored by their owners. Admission £3 (to see ONLY the cars, this will NOT give access to the rest of the festival or the castle). Full details here.

SECRETS OF THE EXPERTS - IN THE INNER BAILEY OF THE CASTLE

Find out what makes the nation’s finest foodies tick during a series of workshops and demonstrations. We’re packing more in than ever before – you’ll be able to match cheeses with cider and ale and learn all that you need to know about bread and cakes in special workshops run by highly-talented bakers. Book your places – they’re strictly limited – and make sure you learn how to get that perfect rise every time.

AROUND TOWN

There will be trails aplenty at this year’s Festival – make sure you check out what’s on around town, as well as what’s happening beyond the Castle Walls. We’ve got plenty in store for you, with pudding and pate trails, a teddy bear’s picnic at the Ludlow Mascall Centre, a Sunday Market in Castle Square and brewery tours at Ludlow Brewery. There are also plenty of great independent traders around Ludlow – you’ll be amazed by what you find.

BRING YOUR BEAR on 12th May as the Ludlow Mascall Centre is having with a GRAND TEDDY BEARS' PICNIC...

Starting at 12pm, bring along a picnic or buy a delicious lunch box from their cafe and join in the fun. Kids colour in a teddy bear to take home and grown-ups get some great ideas on how to create a variety of delicious lunch boxes for school. This promises to be a fantastic event so take the kids along for some fun!

LUDLOW BREWERY - Pop into Ludlow Brewery if you travel in by train and they'll give you a FREE sample in exchange for your incoming train ticket!Wwe’ve teamed up with the town centre’s brewery, Ludlow Brewing Co, to run a series of Brewery Tours. They’ll take place throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday with each tour starting at 11am and 2pm.

Ludlow Brewing Co is a short walk from the Castle and for festival visitors arriving by train, it’s literally a stone’s throw away.The Brewery and its visitor centre and bar are 50 metres north of Ludlow Railway Station, off Station Drive, and is located in a converted railway station.

It’s capable of producing more than 500,000 pints each year and produces award-winning artisan ales, including Ludlow Best and Ludlow Gold. The brewery also won a trio of awards at last year’s Food Festival – a Gold and Silver People’s Choice for Black Knight and Boiling Well, along with the Professional’s Choice Gold Award for Stairway to Paradise.

People can pre-book a brewery tour, priced £5, and space is VERY limited so BOOK NOW to reserve your space.

FOOD TRAILS - We will be bring back the Paté Trail and also a Pudding Trail by popular demand and you are able to buy tickets in advance BUT please note that there will only be limited tickets available to give people who come at the weekend the chance to enjoy the event as well.

Talks and Demos

Talks and demonstrations will be run from the Inner Bailey stage throughout the weekend with many of them being 'hands-on'!

With over 180 Real Ales from over 50 brewers from across the SIBA Wales and West region this is beer lovers paradise.

With over 60 local food and drink exhibitors you will be sure to find some tasty suprises from goat sausages to real perry.

Music

With toe tapping music on the live stage located within the Festival Pub playing all weekend you can enjoy a fantastic pint while listening to some of the regions top tunes!

The Secret Dinner Party

It’s not just food that we’re serious about. We’re also serious about charity. Supporting good causes is at the heart of what we do – and we’re planning a Secret Dinner Party to celebrate. The Ludlow Secret Dinner Party will take place on May 9 and September 12.
